Our Dermatology department is based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and is one of the largest and most highly respected units of its kind in the UK.

Our admin teams are pivotal to the success of our services and the outstanding care we provide for our patients, providing support to our clinicians and the wider teams on a day-to-day basis.

We are a supportive and friendly team who enjoy working together to ensure that our admin processes enhance patient care and are as efficient as possible.


As a Patient Navigator, you will play a very important role in our service, which will contribute to ensure a consistently high standard of patient care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

As part of your role, you would manage the day-to-day co-ordination of care for a defined group of patients assessed by a registered practitioner.

Interview Date: 29 June 202- 37 hours 30 minutes/week


We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team who has previous experience within a healthcare setting, including outpatient departments, waiting list offices and other administrative and clerical teams within a hospital.

Knowledge of the PAS management system or equivalent is essential.


Ensuring patient's progress smoothly through the digital dermatology skin cancer pathway will be a key part of the post holder's purpose.


The post holder will work in both the acute and primary care settings as part of the skin cancer team supporting patients referred in to skin cancer.

  • Triage incoming referrals, using a framework, to assess whether referrals have appropriate information and images attached before clinician review.
  • Liaising with GP's to ensure the correct clinical information and documentation is provided for digital review of 2WW patients.
  • Coordinate the care for a defined group of patients assessed by a registered practitioner.
  • Organise and prioritise the designated workload in relation to identified needs
  • Support the clinical team in managing the patient DD pathway
  • Triage incoming calls, using a risk assessment framework and initiate appropriate response according to protocols and individual pathways, using good communication skills, basic clinical awareness and appropriate tools and procedures, liaising as appropriate when non routine and refer complex decisions to the team for assessment and review.
  • Coordinate the handover with other teams to facilitate safe and effective transition of care between services in order to provide seamless support for people
  • Contribute to a consistently high standard of care as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Document and monitor all aspects of care coordination and service delivery, supporting data collection for audit.
