Job Title: Stroke and Neurology Specialist at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital

Neuroscience is a demanding field encompassing Stroke and Neurology care. At Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, we have 2 inpatient wards dedicated to this specialty - Heydon (Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and Neurology) and Ingham (Acute Stroke Unit and Neurology). Our team also operates an emergency clinic for TIA patients. Collaborating closely with the NNUH's emergency department, we assess and treat Stroke patients throughout their journey.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead screening of acute stroke patients, determining suitability for thrombolysis
  • Ensure timely admission of acute stoke patients to the unit
  • Conduct safe swallow assessments and perform necessary procedures like nasogastric tube insertions
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance health post-stroke or TIA
  • Provide leadership during emergencies and offer team support
  • Effective communication with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment decisions, and care plan objectives
  • Organize meetings with patients and families to establish appropriate care paths
  • Assign named key workers or case managers to each patient
