CLINICAL TEAM LEADER (CTL)

BAND - ENT as part of the General Team

IPT (In Patient Theatres)

Are you ready to further develop your management and leadership skills within the operating theatre?

Can you, under direction, and in support of the Clinical Team Manager (CTM), provide leadership, effectively manage and co-ordinate patient activity, staffing and utilisation within the clinical area?

This is an opportunity for a permanent role in the General Team looking after ENT in Main Theatres

You will need:

To be HCPC/NMC Registered ODP/Nurse

An excellent working knowledge of Ear, Nose & Throat

A sound knowledge of skills required in other specialties

To be able provide a high standard of care for patients undergoing both elective and emergency surgical procedures

To provide leadership and support for junior staff

To take an active role in the co-ordination of patient care and the management of required resources

To be able to manage staff rotas, allocation and annual leave

You must have at least 2 years Theatre experience with a good understanding of ENT surgery. A good work ethic with ability to bring the whole surgical team with you to deliver evidence-based nursing care.

You must be able to operate Laser as well as all the specialist equipment frequently used in ENT.

Communication:


Ensure that all staff are trained and are competent to use equipment in the clinical area, liaising with Theatre Training Department.

Effect the dissemination of information to allow staff to take responsibility for decision making within the team.

Support the provision of relevant clinical learning experiences in an approved environment, in liaison with the Theatre Training Department.

Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with all areas of the Trust

Actively seek research findings which will support clinical practice and participate actively with research opportunities within theatre.


Deputise for the Clinical Team Manager, taking responsibility for an identified group of patients, ensuring that all events involving these patients are co-ordinated, documented, and communicated to the appropriate people at the right time.

Adhere to legal requirements of the Trust, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and HPC e.g., record keeping


Assist in the development of communication systems and maintain existing effective systems within the clinical area with nursing, the multi-disciplinary team, support services staff and with patient, relatives and carers.


Planning and organisational Skills:

Assist with the management of resources in the clinical area within the agreed budget

Ensure that all staff are trained and are competent to use equipment in the clinical area, liaising with Theatre Training Department


Assist and support the Theatre manager/team leader in the overall management of the area, organise and deploy staff ensuring appropriate cover to meet patients' demands.

Provide managerial support to the Departments out of hours service

In conjunction with Line Manager, take responsibility for recruitment, in line with the Trust's procedure

Clinical Duties:

Deliver a high-quality service for all patients within sphere of responsibility

Accept responsibility for the day-to-day management of patient activity ensuring the service provided is maintained at a high standard

Participate in both elective and emergency cover for the unit.

Act as role model and be a credible practitioner within the clinical area
