This EYFS, Primary, Secondary and Post-16 SEND school, based in South Tyneside is looking to appoint a passionate
Special Needs Classroom Assistant to work in either Key Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4 classes on a full-time basis.
Working in this SEND school as part of an established team, the desired
Special Needs Classroom Assistant will be working on a small class size and 1-to-1 basis with pupils with SEND including Autism, MLD, SLD,
PMLD , ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, Complex Medical Needs and Speech and Language Difficulties.
This full time
Special Needs Classroom Assistant role is long term from March ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.
You
must be happy with
feeding and
changing and being involved in hydrotherapy sessions supporting children in and out of the pool.
This role is suitable for individuals who have worked in care settings, youth support settings and children residential settings.

Requirements:
To be considered for the role of Special Needs Classroom Assistant you will:
- Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children.
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
- A passion for the progress of SEND primary and secondary school pupils.
- An ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be happy with personal care assistance and feeding.
- Must be happy to assist pupils in the hydrotherapy pool.
- Manual handling is desirable but not essential.
The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Relevant experience
All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
