Group External Communications Manager

We are looking for a Group External Communications Manager on a full-time staff basis to join our team in Westhill, Aberdeen.

Reporting to the Head of Group Communications you will be working as part of Subsea7's Group communications team. In conjunction with sales and marketing, investor relations and other functions, the external communications manager will be responsible for the development, delivery and implementation of the external global marketing communications strategy, building upon Subsea7's reputation as an industry leader and creating sustainable value by delivering the offshore energy transition solutions the world needs.

Aligned with Subsea7's strategic objectives, you will drive the planning, co-ordination and delivery of impactful, compelling and engaging external communications initiatives, campaigns, materials, channels and events. You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience in the development of compelling and engaging corporate messaging.

The external communications manager will plan, manage and implement the global external communications editorial calendar and activities to ensure alignment and consistency of branding and messaging across the Subsea7 Group.

The role will provide communications and reputation management guidance and support to the business including media relations, issues management and emergency response.

The qualified candidate will work closely with and have line management responsibility for the Group Communications Advisor (External). Key interfaces will include Group, Region and Business unit communications teams, sales and marketing, investor relations, corporate management and other business functions.

What will you be doing?

Drive, develop and implement the external marketing and communications plan in line with strategic objectives and company processes. Evolve and develop external messaging and written content for corporate materials to reflect and embed company strategy, vision, values, differentiators, capabilities and track record. Development of external marketing and communications materials e.g. corporate literature, presentations, videos, animations and digital platforms. Oversee management, governance and development of corporate website () and Subsea7's official social media channels. Day-to-day interface for Group media activity and enquiries, giving, guidance, advice and facilitating relevant approvals. This includes high level input on contract award stock market announcements, proactive management of reputational issues and management of third-party requests. Event management and support for Group events e.g. exhibition participation. Working closely with sales and marketing, lead and facilitate the annual planning process for the development and review of Region and Business Unit external marketing and communications plans. Regular engagement with Region and Business Unit communications colleagues and the wider business to drive and align upon external communications activities, branding and messaging. Act as a key communications focal point for alliances and partnerships, and other collaborative projects, supporting the development of the brand, maximising and enhancing the reputation of Subsea7's involvement and strengthening relationships with stakeholders. Ensure all external communications are on brand, on message, and delivered in line with company strategy and guideline protocols, including facilitation of relevant Group approvals. Member of emergency response team and to support evolvement of ER preparedness and associated processes, training and development. Raise awareness of external communications activities through internal communications channels. Ensure continuous improvement of external communications via multiple channels. Develop a constructive and professional relationship with all stakeholders and colleagues within Subsea7. Compliance with, and development of, relevant functional policies, processes and systems. Occasional travel required to support key stakeholders, activities and events.

Degree qualified in marketing / corporate communications or similar discipline is advantageous. Holds recognised relevant professional qualifications (desirable). Experience of working in a large multinational company. Global energy sector experience preferred, but not essential. Relevant experience at supervisory or management level. Strong PR / media relations experience including reputational issues management and emergency response. Capable of comprehending and presenting complex technical topics and specialised information in an easy-to-understand format. Extensive knowledge of working with, or in, external creative agencies Effective project management skills - can demonstrate track record of successful project delivery, on time and to budget. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proven ability to interact and work with senior level management. Strong communications skills – written and verbal and ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences.
