If so an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Reception Administrator within the Clinical Haematology Department based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.


The post holder will be the face of the department and will need to be dynamic, friendly and able to use their own initiative.


The successful applicant will be joining a highly motivated and effective team who strive to ensure patient care is at the forefront of our service.

Duties include manning reception, booking of outpatient
appointments, distributing internal and external mail,
ensuring that clinical documentation is prepared in
advance of clinic review. Dealing with telephone enquiries
from patients and staff, ensuring that they are escalated to
the relevant person. To carry out any other clerical tasks
as directed by the line manager.

  • Provide reception duties for outpatient clinics, operating PAS to ensure all data is collected and
recorded in accordance with Trust guidelines.

  • Ensure referrals and appointments are made accurately ensuring all databases are kept up to date
and all clinical staff are made aware of non-attending patients. Sending out letters where appropriate.

  • Deal with internal and external enquiries in a polite and courteous manner in what may sometimes be
difficult circumstances. Dealing with phone enquiries and where necessary passing on details to
relevant members of staff.

  • Manage incoming and outgoing post and distribute appropriately.
  • Cache up clinics and rebook appointments where necessary. Highlighting any nonattenders and
recording RTT pathway.

  • Arrange bone marrow aspirates and circulate lists when required.
  • Requesting patient notes for clinics, including tracking and retrieving notes from other parts of the
hospital and preparation of notes for clinic.

  • Overseeing the department stationery supply, reordering on the appropriate systems as and when
necessary.
