An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Student Services Department, in the Personal Development team.

The Personal Development, through the delivery of a broad and diverse programme of enrichment activities, empower students to develop additional skill sets aligned to their aspirations and opportunities, in preparation for adulthood and employment.

This includes visiting speakers and facilitators; sport and physical activities; arts and crafts.


The Student Engagement Co-ordinator will manage the Student Engagement Officers on a day-to-day basis, coordinating the student engagement response to emerging themes and promoting positive behaviours across all campus buildings.

Working together with our Safeguarding & Wellbeing Team Leader, Personal Development Team Leader and tutorial staff, you will provide training to ensure all mandatory modules of the personal development programme are delivered through tutorial sessions.

You may also be required to co-deliver where appropriate.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Personal Development Team Leader and Safeguarding & Wellbeing Team Leader, plan, design and development of the tutorial resources for the mandatory personal development programme with a specific focus on Prevent, Safeguarding, Sexual Harassment and Consent.
  • Working with the Personal Development Officers, design and deliver additional personal development and enrichment activity ensuring it is relevant to current and emerging themes within Bradford College that has clear links to improving student development and life skills.
  • Develop strong working relationships with external stakeholders to further enhance the delivery of all mandatory tutorial resources, personal development and enrichment activities
  • Manage the Student Engagement Officers to promote positive behaviours across all campus buildings with a specific focus on disengaged students
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with the Student Engagement Officers to discuss feedback from curriculum areas on behaviours and attitudes and develop a robust action plan
  • Model and encourage positive behaviours and supportively challenge poor student behaviours
  • Have the necessary skills to engage with disengaged young people using traumainformed approaches
  • Competent at delivering and codelivering sensitive workshops covering key themes

Education & Training

  • Degree and JNC Qualified as Youth and Community Worker
  • GCSE 49 (A*C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in maths or equivalent (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A-C)
  • GCSE 49 (A*C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A-C)
Experience

  • Experience of working in an education or youth work setting
  • Experience of planning, delivering and facilitating group work sessions.
  • Experience of engaging students in extracurricular activities
  • Experience of event management and organisation and/or project management
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of people
