Location: Cuerden Depot, PR5 6BJ is the main base, however you will be required to work across various locations across Lancashire.

We are currently recruiting a:

Technical Support Officer within Environmental Services at Lancashire County Council .

The Environmental Services team forms part of Lancashire Highway Operations which is responsible for the direct delivery of all highways related schemes across the County made up of 4300 miles of road, 151,000 streetlights and 2955 bridges.

This is a dynamic, innovative team involved in creating, managing, and maintaining a variety of landscapes across the county. We deliver high quality landscape maintenance and projects of all scales across the whole of Lancashire alongside our highways colleagues and other LCC departments. The team also provides a high quality arboriculture and grounds maintenance service to our corporate partners ensuring facilities such as care homes, children's centres and libraries benefit from well-maintained outdoor environments.

We have demonstrated our capabilities to deliver valued and high-profile schemes as well as improve the quality of Lancashire County Council facilities and highways. This success has gained stakeholder confidence which has meant we are now the "Provider of Choice" for Highways Projects, arboriculture and landscape maintenance in Lancashire and have a strong working partnership with all our colleagues in Lancashire County Council.

About the person

We are seeking individuals with a passion for managing and improving landscapes to join our fantastic Environmental Services Team. Our arboriculture section is expanding and we are looking for someone to primarily support this hard-working team and at times support other managers within Environmental Services.

An understanding or previous experience within arboriculture and / or landscaping will be an advantage although support is given throughout to learn some of the specifics about this industry.

You'll have an ability to provide diverse technical and administrative support to operational mangers to ensure the continuity of delivering a high standard and safe service, and you'll be a self-motivated individual with the ability to perform tasks independently and accurately.

About the role

The role is one of support and involves processing high volumes of information in specified timescales using various software for tasks such as asset management, financial transactions, record keeping, procurement and customer contact.

It's not all office based and time visiting sites across the county to ensure operational managers have all the information they need to plan and deliver work efficiently and safely is required. Our industry operates in some high-risk situations and sufficient understanding of Health and Safety relating to operational sites, traffic management and industry regulations is required, along with a full driving licence.

Our team values excellent customer care and keeping our customers informed and updated in a will be part of your job. You will have the ability to communicate appropriately and confidently to a wide audience including operational staff and managers, wider LCC colleagues, councillors and members of the public.

Maintaining a safe highway network and keeping LCC facilities working all year round involves participation in winter maintenance duties which requires out of hours working on a rota basis.
