Do you have a passion for Mental Health care?

Do you have creative skills which you can use to engage patients in a psychiatric ward?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as anActivity coordinatorto work alongside the Occupational Therapists, within the Tamarind Occupational Therapy (OT) Team at Park Royal Centre for Mental Health.

You would be joining an established team of Occupational Therapists, Activity Coordinators, Sports Technician, Fitness Instructor, Senior Peer Support Worker as well as a wider Multidisciplinary team.

We also have opportunities to deliver interventions alongside the psychology and psychotherapy team.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

To use own creative skills alongside our resources (art and craft materials, food, gardening, music and exercise) and provisions, to engage patients and support them on their recovery journey.

The aim of the role is to provide interventions, using recovery principles, in order to improve the service users' quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.

To work alongside the Occupational Therapy Team to facilitate an acute ward programme which provides therapeutic activities based on social, creative and skill based tasks for both individuals and groups who have a mental health diagnosis.

The post holder will receive regular supervision by an Occupational Therapist and opportunities for training through Central and North West London Learning and Development Zone and the Recovery and Wellbeing College.

Staff are also encouraged to develop their skills through reflection and learning. There are also opportunities available within the Trust to develop your career and become an OT apprentice. Previous postholders have moved on within the trust to Apprentice and core profession trainee roles.
