Role Overview

  • Title: Early Years Instructor
  • Reports to: Camp Manager
  • Contract Type: Seasonal engagement during school holidays.
  • Working Hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm on weekdays. Opportunities for full or part season roles, with additional hours available for those with a paediatric first aid qualification (typically 8am - 6pm).

Key Responsibilities

The Early Years Instructor plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children during camp sessions. This position involves delivering engaging and structured activities in sports, arts, and play tailored for young children aged 4 to 5 years. Activities align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on participation and quality.

Under the guidance of the Early Years Leader, you will take on a pastoral role, acting as a primary contact for the children, ensuring their welfare, and providing exceptional care.

  • Design and implement activities for young children, emphasizing enjoyment, participation, and development.
  • Promote child welfare and ensure adherence to all camp policies and procedures.
  • Assist in establishing the Ultimate Activity Juniors provision by participating in an induction program.
  • Act as a group leader, welcoming new children and coordinating with the EY Leader and parents as needed.
  • Engage with children outside of scheduled activities to foster a supportive environment.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate the diverse backgrounds and developmental stages of children.
  • Embody the commitment of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and uphold the company's standards throughout your role.
  • Perform additional duties as required (e.g., cleaning, equipment upkeep).

Essential Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic and energetic individual with a passion for nurturing children's development through play.
  • Prior experience working with children aged 4-5 in educational, artistic, or sports settings.
  • Confident in adjusting instructional methods based on age and ability.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexible team player capable of adapting to the dynamic environment of a camp.
  • Aspiring to grow within the childcare sector while enjoying a rewarding holiday job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in working with Early Years children and delivering EYFS curriculum.
  • Level 2 qualification in childcare or Early Years, or progress towards a degree in a related field.
  • Possession of a Paediatric First Aid or First Aid at Work certification.
