Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Activity Leader to join our team. As an Activity Leader, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of activities to children aged 5-14, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with the setup and maintenance of a suitable base room area, ensuring it is inviting and safe for children.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for children.
- Deliver activity sessions as per the prepared timetable, working with other staff to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for children.
- Provide active supervision and attention to children at all times, including breaks and lunchtimes.
- Use resources to plan and deliver activities that are age-appropriate and engaging for children.
- Encourage maximum participation from children and get to know them as individuals, incorporating their interests into activities.
- Take responsibility for the general welfare and safeguarding of children.
- Ensure the safe use of equipment and pack it away properly after use.
- Experience or qualifications working with children.
- Aged 18 or over by the start date of the contract.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
- Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges in a childcare setting.
- Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
- Complete Online Training annually.
- Attend Induction Training Day before the first working season.
- Ensure the company fulfills all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and showing a proactive approach to safety issues.
- Deliver activities that are appropriate for children in your care, within your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
- Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme as directed.
- Ensure children under your supervision behave safely and respect them as individuals.
- Carefully follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
- Be a positive role model to children, promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene precautions.
- Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to the Senior Team or a Designated Person at the Central Office.
- Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
