Job Title: Activity Leader

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Activity Leader to join our team. As an Activity Leader, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of activities to children aged 5-14, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of a suitable base room area, ensuring it is inviting and safe for children.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for children.
  • Deliver activity sessions as per the prepared timetable, working with other staff to ensure a variety of activities are delivered.
  • Provide active supervision and attention to children throughout the day, including breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Use resources to plan and deliver activities that are age-appropriate and engaging for children.
  • Encourage maximum participation from children and get to know them as individuals, incorporating their interests into activities.
  • Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding, ensuring the safe use of equipment and packing it away appropriately.
Requirements:
  • Experience or qualifications working with children.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of the contract.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills and the ability to use initiative.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day ahead of the first working season.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfills all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and showing a proactive approach to safety issues.
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for children in your care, within the scope of your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and ensure the activity program is as directed on the timetable.
  • Ensure children under your supervision behave in a safe manner, always knowing their whereabouts and respecting them as individuals.
  • Carefully follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model to children, promoting a healthy lifestyle, good hygiene precautions, and considering their welfare.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to the Senior Team or a Designated Person at the Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
