In the role, you'll lead and manage Southern Co-op's community investment and engagement programme. The role is hybrid and you'll be based at our head office in Portsmouth for a minimum of 2 days a week. Our office has great amenities with free on site parking and a shuttle bus service to the main transport links.

What you can expect

Develop and implement Southern Co-op's community investment approach and programme, aligned to Our Plan business objectives and wider sustainability strategy, working with key stakeholders across our business to inform our approach. Develop and build internal and external online communities linked to our community programme, maximising digital platforms such as Neighbourly and internal communication channels to encourage engagement. Manage the development and implementation of our community engagement to ensure this supports the skills development and wellbeing of our colleagues. Represent the business with key community partners and at community networks and events, deputising for Director People & Sustainability and Communications & Community Manager where appropriate. Create and maintain community policies, processes, guidance and tools Measure, monitor and report on our community investment activity Manage community budgets day to day. Work with marketing and membership colleagues to maximise the promotion of community-based activity and support Southern Co-op's member and customer engagement campaigns with the provision of community insight and content Coordinate community campaigns Support the Board of Directors, Leadership Team and other senior managers with external advocacy work linked to our community (and sustainability) strategies.

Key skills required

Passion for engagement with local communities Ability to interact with colleagues/external contacts at all levels Excellent organisation and administration skills Able to work to tight deadlines and juggle changing priorities whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication and presentation skills Great customer service ethic and high expectations for quality Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision Remain positive when facing challenging situations Full UK Driving Licence Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in community investment management and relations (Desirable)
