London, Greater London, United Kingdom Barts Health NHS Trust Full time

Job Summary

Barts Health NHS Trust envisions being a top-performing group of NHS hospitals, well-known for delivering safe and caring treatment to patients in East London and surrounding areas.

The Trust includes St Bartholomew's Hospital, The Royal London (RLH) & Mile End Hospitals (MEH), Whipps Cross & Newham University Hospitals. In alignment with the recommendations of the Richards Review of Diagnostics (2020), a Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) is being established at Mile End Hospital.

The CDC is part of a broader initiative to modernize and enhance diagnostic services to meet the growing demand. CDCs aim to make it easier for patients to undergo diagnostic tests closer to home and within the local community, operating 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The CDC will house 2 CT scanners, including a NAEOTOM Alpha Photon Counting CT scanner, and a Cone Beam CT system.

We offer Radiation Safety support for all ionising radiation uses in the Trust, with Barts & RLH sites equipped with digital imaging equipment following a PFI arrangement.

An opportunity is available for a DR/RP Medical Physicist with expertise in CT Physics to serve as the lead MPE for the Mile End CDC and the Trust Lead MPE for CT across sites. This individual will oversee the Radiation Protection Programme at Mile End.

The Radiation Safety Section is located at RLH. Responsibilities will include working at the CDC and all Trust sites.

Informal enquiries are welcome; please contact Julie Horrocks.

The Mile End CDC will feature 2 CT scanners, a Cone Beam CT system, and a general X-ray room, with 12 additional CT scanners, a radiotherapy planning CT, and SPECT/CT, PET/CT scanners in the Trust.
