Have you personally gone through Birth Trauma or Loss? Do you have a desire to help other women dealing with perinatal mental health issues? If yes, we are excited to offer you the opportunity to join us as a perinatal peer support worker in our mental health team.

The Gloucestershire Birth Anxiety and Trauma Service (BATS) is part of the wider Perinatal Community Mental Health Team, focusing on providing mental health support for women and families during pregnancy and up to 2 years post-birth, specializing in assisting women with a strong fear of childbirth, traumatic birth experiences, or baby loss.

Our team prioritizes women with complex mental health needs and high distress levels related to their maternity experiences, including those who have a history of severe mental health issues but are currently stable.

We also offer specialized consultation, training, and advice to various mental health, maternity, and primary health services.


Main Duties:

  • Provide practical and group support to mothers using your own experiences
  • Work collaboratively with mental health professionals
  • Participate in regular supervision and training for professional development

Job Responsibilities:

Join us as a Health Care Assistant/Support Worker responsible for delivering high-quality care and services to patients within a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service setting.

You will receive direct supervision, engage in reflective practice/training regularly, and meet the Care Certificate standards. Successful applicants may have the chance to pursue a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship in conjunction with their role.


Qualifications:

Essential

  • Knowledge of Health and wellbeing issues, and NVQ level 3 or equivalent training

Experience:

Essential

  • Lived experience of moderate to severe perinatal mental health challenges or distress related to maternity
  • Proven experience in maintaining detailed records
