Working 37.5 hours a week, you will be accountable for the day-to-day improvement of clinical quality, excellence in care delivery and overall delivery of nursing skill, education and practice performance of at Rhodes Wood Hospital.


As the hospital's Clinical Improvement Lead, you will have a direct link with internal and external stakeholders holding the role of clinical expert in terms of eating disorders, physical health, infection, prevention control and mental health nursing.

Youwill hold responsibility for quality assurance and delivery of audit frameworks that ensure that the hospital operates within outstanding parameters of care and treatment.

Through this role, you will deputise in the absence of the Head of Clinical Services.

You will work hand in hand with other key operational clinical colleagues to ensure that the hospital is adequately provisioned for excellent care and treatment for ouryoung people.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • 70/30 clinical floor/office working. Being visible and accessible to the front line team.
  • Timely turnaround of actions and assurance reporting
  • Leading and carrying out on the floor related clinical audits and implementing actions with staff on the floor
  • Ensuring all clinical staff compliance and competencies in their roles via education and assessment, and on the floor upskilling
  • Be a main driver for the improvement of quality care delivery, treatment and service improvement
  • Lead and have oversight on all RCAs, complaints and investigations into clinical care standards
  • Provide strategic leadership to clinical managers and the multidisciplinary team
  • Conduct disciplinary and grievance investigations as and when required
  • Monitor the availability of clinical supervision.
  • Monitor, report and act upon any clinical risks associated with change processes or financial constraints
  • Receive clinical supervision and participate in appraisal and performance development
  • Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To be a registered practitioner with the NMC
  • Registered Nurse with 4 years' experience
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Evidence of undertaking management training or willingness to complete Elysium Leadership training
  • Experience of leading a team and successfully allocating work to others to meet care needs of patient's
  • Experience of managing underperformance
  • Experience of leading on defined audits, completing successful plans for service improvement
  • Experience of compliance with KPI's
  • Experience of supervising practice in line with NMC, HCPC requirements
  • Evidence of engagement in supervision to review own practice
  • Knowledge of CQUIN requirements for NHS patient's
  • Knowledge of Standards for relevant specialism e.g. CAMHS low secure.
  • Knowledge of NICE guidance
  • A good understanding of audit standards and clinical governance
  • Extensive experience in undertaking clinical audit activities
  • Have the ability to use a variety of IT systems
