We are seeking to recruit an experienced CAMHS/MHST practitioner to join the Tower Hamlets Education Wellbeing Service (THEWS). THEWS is a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) established following the government Green Paper: Transforming Children & Young People's Mental Health Provision. The service has undergone recent expansion. Main duties of the job The three core functions of a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are:- Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) with mild-to-moderate mental health problems.
- Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce, develop and deliver the whole school/college approach.
- Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help CYP to get the right support and stay in education.
- Recognised qualification in mental health (e.g. clinical psychologist, counselling psychologist, Educational Psychologist CBT therapist.(Mental Health Nursing , Mental Health Social Worker with CBT training at experience)
- Registration with HCPC and/or profession-specific regulatory body
- Knowledge of current guidelines and recent developments in evidence-based assessments and interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems
- Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management and mental health in relation to children, young people and their families
- Knowledge, understanding and experience with diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and families with a high level of deprivation
- Knowledge of current guidelines in terms of the implementation of the whole-school approach in education
- Experience of working as a qualified clinician with children and young people for a minimum of two years
- Specialist skills, training and experience in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)
- Substantial experience of working with evidence-based approaches for mild to moderate mental health problems in children and young people
- Experience of supervising low intensity practice with CYP and families
- Experience working with schools
- PG Cert Supervision: Children and Young People's Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Experience of supervising EMHP/CWP practitioners for 2 years
- Experience of routine outcome monitoring
- Experience working as part of an MHST
- Experience of service development
- Formal training in supervision
- Experience of line managing others
- Experience of consultation
- Experience of teaching/training other professionals
- The successful candidate must be able to start in post by 1st September 2024 at the latest
