Luton, Luton, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time
We are seeking to recruit a full time Specialty Doctor for the Luton Liaison Psychiatry Service.

The post holder will join the existing multidisciplinary Liaison Psychiatry service at East London Foundation Trust and Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post is permanent, however, applications from doctors who plan to subsequently apply for higher training may also be considered.

This new specialty doctor post has been developed to support the work of the department covering a working age and older adult population.

The post is well supervised and is suitable for doctors with three or more years of psychiatric experience. There are opportunities for special interest sessions in more specialist areas of liaison psychiatry.

Supervision of junior doctors is an important part of the role along with involvement in departmental teaching, including of undergraduates, and involvement in audit and quality improvement.

Working hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday, but applications are welcome from those who wish to work part-time or flexible hours can be considered as well.

Our Trust has an excellent record in training and development for SAS doctors. There are SAS specific training days and various development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The Specialty Doctor will work closely with the consultant psychiatrists of the team and will be responsible for the assessment and management of mental health problems on a routine and emergency basis.

On average 8 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care. Special interest sessions or dedicated time and support to work towards CESR can be negotiated with the Clinical Director.

The post holder will support both the liaison service in multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and management of patients with mental disorders as envisaged in NICE Guidelines.

The post holder will liaise with the other relevant organisations e.g. Luton and Dunstable Acute Hospital ensuring a seamless service.
