We are recruiting on behalf of our client who urgently require an Attendance & Outreach Lead role until the end of March.

You will be required to work part of a team working with colleagues, students and their families to provide strategic leadership aroundattendance.

Promote high levels of attendance and punctuality and provide specific support in relation to attendance for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To effectively assess student needs, planning and coordinating appropriate and effective support.
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of practical support, advice and guidance to students, staff and vulnerable families to help students and families overcome barriers and challenges to attendance. Empower families to recognise their roles and responsibilitiesin the emotional, social, physical and educational development of their children;
  • Support parents/carers to access selfdevelopment, educational and parenting support, in the best interests of their children.
  • To carry a caseload of students and families, implementing regular reviews and plans with identified staff and professionals.
  • To work with a range of services, agencies and partnerships in order to effectively support students and their families in ensuring that there is a measurably positive outcome.
  • To record, evaluate and report on the impact of the support offered to students and their families, updating relevant information systems.
  • To develop positive and effective working relationships with a range of agencies and ensure that they contribute to supporting our vision and values.
  • To work with parents so they develop and maintain a positive view of education and support their child
  • Work to improve the attendance of students at the college, by implementing and managing the college's attendance strategy as set by the Principal/SLT.
  • Assisting the Senior Assistant Principal in the Management and Development of attendance and punctuality policies
  • Work alongside colleagues to plan and implement strategies that will
improve the behaviour, attendance and attainment of individual and targeted groups of students.

  • Investigate reasons for student absence via telephone calls and undertaking home visits to support parents/carers and encourage students to come in to college.
  • Implement and develop reintegration strategies to support a student returning to college, in order to resolve any difficulties and reduce the likelihood of further absence.
  • Monitor and analyse attendance data daily to identify areas of concern and prepare statistics and reports on absentees, providing reports to the Senior Leadership Team & Governors as required.
  • Support and challenge colleagues as necessary to ensure accurate and timely recording of class registers and attendance data.
  • Attend meetings with parents/carers and multiagency meetings, when appropriate.
  • Produce and send correspondence regarding lateness and attendance/truancy.
  • Advise parents / carers about the legal process if their child becomes a persistent absentee.
  • Organise attendance panels, set targets and if necessary, organise parenting contracts to be completed.
  • Where required, support the management of Education Supervision Orders made in court.
  • Support with transition arrangements for students entering or leaving the College.
  • Attend key after college events, staff training and briefings and participate in middle and senior leadership meetings.
  • Be committed to improving personal practice through training and performance management.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a clean full driving licence.
  • Have a valid, enhanced DBS
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills and be computer literate, with GCSEs including English and Maths

Safeguarding

  • Be a member of the College's Safeguarding team
  • Make CPOMS as appropriate
  • Complete multiagency referrals and attend meetings as directed by the DSL.
