Therapy Assistant Practitioner Apprentice

The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of Therapy Assistant Practitioner through successful completion of the Therapy Practitioner Apprenticeship programme.
For those Assistant Practitioners who wish to progress into Registered Practice, the apprenticeship can provide credits into some Higher Education programmes aligned to professional registration.
The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Therapy Assistant Practitioner within the service and through completion of the foundation degree apprenticeship programme which may include working in a variety of clinical placements and delivery of person-centred care.
The Therapy Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and the training provider.
If the post holder is not successful in completing the Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship qualification, then they will revert to the Rehabilitations Assistant role and the job requirements will be detailed within this job description.
Skills or skills obtained with the training provider will be applied in context of a substantive role to enhance personal development.
During the initial phase of the apprenticeship, all work activities will be under direct guidance and supervision of a registered and competent person.
As the apprenticeship progresses, and following discussion and agreement with supervisors, supervision and guidance will be both direct and indirect.
The apprentice will act in such a way that always safeguards the health and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
The apprentice must complete and pass all course modules, learning outcomes and therapeutic competencies within the contract period as part the apprenticeship agreement.

A Therapy Assistant Practitioner Apprentice works under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner in accordance with employer policy, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
The Registered Practitioner remains accountable for the appropriate and effective delegation of activities and must ensure that the Apprentice has the competency, confidence, and expertise to carry out such activities.
Having accepted the activity, the Apprentice is accountable for their actions. In a situation where the Apprentice feels they do not have the necessary skills or ability then they must alert the registered practitioner immediately
The Apprentice will participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patients/client's therapy, health and well-being needs under supervision.
Work towards accepting or delegating assessment responsibility, developing individual plans of care to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of the patients and carers.
Work towards planning, organising, and prioritising the workload of junior members of staff.
To gain knowledge of specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of the patients and carers and, taking these into account in assisting the implementation of appropriate actions to meet those needs.
Work towards planning and progress patient interventions with autonomy. Assessing and planning daily with indirect supervision of qualified practitioner.
Gain understanding on a range of non-routine work procedures and practises which require intermediate level of theoretical knowledge and physical skills gained through relevant training and experience.
