About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our Leaving Care Service, providing intensive advice and support to young people who are at risk of becoming homeless or currently experiencing homelessness.

The role will include;
Direct work with young people supporting them back into or to maintain suitable accommodation.

Working together with the allocated Personal Advisor to creatively find ways to prevent homelessness.

Providing specialist advice and intervention across the corporate parenting service for child in care and our care leavers.

Working closely with the local housing districts, including named housing officers.

Ensuring the Joint Housing Protocol for Care Leavers is being applied to meet the needs of our young people.

Working alongside the management group in developing key policies, procedure and practice guidance around homelessness prevention

Contributing towards the reporting of relevant information and data.

Interviews week commencing 3rd July, likely date is 6th July 2023.

What will you be doing?

You will be a champion in our strategy to prevent homelessness for all care leavers, sharing your expertise across the service and partner agencies.

You will primarily be responsible for advising and supporting care leavers years old) to achieve suitable and sustainable accommodation.

You will work closely with the involved Personal Advisor for individual care leavers to support them during this process, contributing to individual plans when appropriate.


An important part of your role will be to act as the dedicated link within Cambridgeshire County Council for our housing districts.

You will work to foster positive working relationships with our local housing partners and accommodation providers.


You must have excellent organisational skills, must be passionate about working with young people to improve their outcomes, must work in partnership with other agencies involved with the young persons.


You should be committed to working with young people from diverse backgrounds, who will have diverse needs, promoting good outcomes for all our care leavers.

About you
You must have a minimum of a NVQ level 3/A levels relevant qualifications.


You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the specific issues faced by young people who may be at risk of homelessness or already be homeless.


You will need to have good communication skills and to be able to present information in different formats, as is suitable for the audience.
