We have an opportunity to join the programming team at the innovative Children’s Country House at Sudbury.
You'll be over-seeing the management of a relevant and engaging learning offer for both our indoor and outdoor spaces, and the planning of baseline programming throughout the year, in conjunction with the wider programming strategy.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to and working closely with the Programming & Participation Manager, you'll be developing, planning, and managing the delivery of every aspect of a learning visit to the Children’s Country House. You'll manage two members of staff and learning volunteers, who will be responsible for learning delivery.
Placing children and families at the heart, we offer creative and innovative ways to connect to our audience. 
We work across teams to create a playful and immersive heritage day out for all ages. We also want this same sense of wonder and curiosity for everyone, enabling staff to engage with our visitors and share in the fun and enjoyment.

What you'll be doing

You'll also be responsible for the development of wider, baseline programming, in line with CCH and NT programming strategies working with our more thematic approach to wider programming initiatives. This will involve active collaboration and communication across all departments, ensuring an inclusive team culture, that responds to learning and baseline programming provision and that can develop future audiences for our work.
For both learning and programming delivery, you'll ensure that all necessary administrative tasks are up-to-date and completed, enabling access needs are met, as well as compliance with health and safety. You'll champion best practice approaches to safeguarding in everything we do.
Departmental liaison with Marcomms staff will be essential to ensure wider marketing of both the learning and baseline programming offer.
As a member of the Duty Manager team, you'll be responsible for the smooth operation of the Children’s Country House during opening hours, working closely and in partnership with all staff and volunteers.

  • strong organisational and administrative skills e.g. budget management, keeping and updating records, meeting deadlines 
  • great people and communication skills, establishing positive relationships with both external and internal collaborators 
  • the ability to work independently as well as with a team, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and productive place for staff and volunteers 
  • to be able to balance competing priorities and demands
  • experience in delivering learning programmes and events and/or working with community or commercial partners to deliver events and activities 
  • understanding of an audience-led approach and the ability to evaluate the impact and use feedback to further develop an offer or event 
  • to be someone creative, ambitious and able to draw creative ideas from their team
