Connectivity Market and Business Intelligence Officer in the Market Analysis and Business Intelligence Section, Future Programmes Division, Systems, Strategic Programme Lines and Technology Department, Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications (D/CSC).
The Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications supports innovation to boost the competitiveness of European industry in the global space market. This involves a wide range of activities, from space-based technology, systems, and products for telecommunications development to the application on Earth of space-based services, and entails engagement with a wide range of industrial, entrepreneurial, and institutional partners.
Under the Systems, Strategic Programme Lines and Technology Department, the Future Programmes Division is responsible for the management of the ARTES Generic Programme Line Future Preparation; the recommendation of innovative satellite communication concepts and solutions; the elaboration of new disruptive satellite connectivity and secure communications concepts and solutions; the management of the technology and system exploration in support of the technology work plans and roadmaps; and the technical and programmatic consolidation of new telecommunications system projects in partnership with private and/or public entities.
The Connectivity Market and Business Intelligence Section is responsible for the analysis and business intelligence of markets and businesses relevant to connectivity and secure communications, as well as for defining and providing market guidance for the Directorate’s programme and business development. As part of our dynamic, collaborative, and passionate team, you will shape the future of the space industry by undertaking market intelligence, financial analysis, and socioeconomic impact assessments to support the activities of the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications.
DutiesThe Connectivity Market and Business Intelligence Officer reports to the Head of the Connectivity Market Analysis and Business Intelligence Section and supports the Section in analysing the trends and evolution of the satcom and telecom markets, and in evaluating the socioeconomic impact of ESA connectivity projects.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- monitoring and assessing satcom and telecom market evolution and changes in the connectivity business environment;
- managing and coordinating the analysis of telecom business trends and business needs and evolutions of internal and external stakeholders, recommending business intelligence solutions and programmatic actions to satisfy those needs;
- managing the creation of connectivity market intelligence products for internal and external stakeholders, both on a regular basis and ad hoc as required;
- managing socioeconomic impact studies in a harmonised and coordinated manner across the Directorate in support of connectivity and secure communications programme proposals and reporting on the studies to key stakeholders;
- managing technical, financial and business plan analysis of market opportunities for satellite connectivity in new vertical markets, including transport, energy, and security;
- evaluating potential ARTES 4.0 programme actions and making recommendations for the purpose of ensuring the long-term growth of ARTES 4.0 and related ESA programmes in a commercial setting, including institutional markets and the digital economy beyond space;
- fostering close cooperation across the Directorate for the creation of future strategic programme lines, next-generation space systems and innovative financing solutions;
- supporting the initiation of new CSC programme proposals in their market assessment;
- participating in ESA working groups and the preparation of strategic documents and coordinated programme proposals in collaboration with other directorates.

Direct experience of working with a commercial satellite telecommunications company will be a distinct advantage.

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
