The Aurora Group 

We’re the sixth-largest provider of specialist educational services in the country, supporting over 900 children and young people, and employing approximately 1,500 staff. 

We’re currently looking for a Payroll and Pensions Manager (home based) to ensure monthly payrolls, pensions and other pay related benefits are processed accurately and on time for currently c1500 employees and casual workers in a growing organisation. You will provide dedicated, accurate and timely pay & pension expertise and professional advice to managers and employees across the Aurora Group ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.

 

Main responsibilities:

Manage the effective operation of all payroll functions and be accountable for ensuring that all relevant payroll deadlines are met and payrolls are accurate, authorised and processed.Ensure the full reconciliation of payroll, in order to report accurately to HMRC and pensions providers.Develop and run audit and exception reports, ensuring that any issues are investigated and resolved.Prepare finance documents including BACS to ensure that all staff are paid and associated deductions made via payroll are paid to providers e.g. pension contributions.Working with Finance Team, ensure all monthly and tax year end HMRC reporting including pension reporting is accurate and on time including the balancing of income tax and national insurance contributions.Manage the Payroll TeamEnsure the correct knowledge and skill of Service Administrators and Business Managers to ensure accurate and timely data entry into HR/Payroll system to enable accurate and timely processing of payrolls.Regularly review processes enabling improvements are continually made to ensure efficiency, accuracy and ease of processing.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

Previous demonstrable experience of accurate and successful payroll and pensions management in a medium to large organisation.Strong leadership, networking and relationship building skills.Extensive knowledge of payroll systems, specifically i-Trent (essential),Extensive knowledge of taxation, statutory deductions and payments, earnings orders and national insurance rules.Excellent customer services skills with a strong commitment to delivering solutions and improving processes to meet customer needs.Strong organisational skills, project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent oral and written communications skill; with strong interpersonal skills, combined with resilience.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages, specifically Excel.Ability to work flexibly at peak times.
