Upland Community Engagement Assistant Skipton 2024

Skipton, United Kingdom The Wildlife Trusts Full time

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint an Upland Community Engagement Assistant.

We want people to care about our uplands and take action to enhance them and make them wilder; helping people understand these amazing landscapes is key to building that support. You will provide assistance to the Engagement Officers in the Wild Ingleborough and Yorkshire Peat Partnership Programmes on a 50/50 basis. This role supports engagement delivery for both of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s flagship upland programmes.

In this exciting new role, you will assist with co-ordination, administration and delivery of events to schools and community groups across the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale National Landscape with possible travel to the North York Moors National Park. You will also support both programmes in maintaining and expanding their digital presence and in booking and promoting their events. There will be opportunities to express and develop your creative side as you help to prepare and produce events and engagement resources.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a team player with great communications skills and practical experience of assisting in delivering impactful events and learning sessions for a diverse range of audiences. You will experience of using a range of audience-appropriate toolkits and resources, and of creating social media content in a professional capacity.

A good knowledge of UK wildlife and environmental issues and a commitment to campaigning for positive change are desirable.

How to apply

Please submit an up-to-date CV and supporting statement. When writing your supporting statement, please refer to the person specification within the job description, and ensure you describe your relevant knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role. Ideally, your CV and supporting statement should be in an editable format, such as Word, so we can anonymise your documents prior to the short-listing process. Please DO NOT include any personal details (name, address etc) on your supporting statement.

Interview date: 25/26 September 2024

Please note that applications received after the closing deadline may not be considered. The Trust regrets that it is unable to give feedback on unsuccessful applications.

We are committed to creating a Movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone is able to be themselves and to reach their full potential. We want our people to flourish, just like nature.
