Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Business Services Operational Support and Finance Team. Applicants must have excellent organisational and communication skills and be willing to embrace new challenges.

We provide a wide range of specialist administrative and financial support to Health & Social Care, Education and Children's Services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the administration of Free School Meals and Education Maintenance Allowance, including authorisation of applications and payments. Authorisation of Financial Assessments for service users receiving Care at Home and Care Home Services. Liaising with service providers to ensure prompt payment of invoices to organisations who provide care to children and adults.

Education:

Essential:  Jobholders require a minimum of two SCE Higher Grades or equivalent and evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy such as a minimum of three Standard Grade level passes to include English and Mathematics. 

Experience:

Essential: Jobholders would be expected to have experience in working in a Local Government environment and have an understanding computer based financial management and reporting systems in use with Council services.  S/he must also have knowledge and demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable: it would be desirable if jobholders had experience at involving the supervision and training of staff.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £27,181.61 per annum.

Responsibilities

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.
