Our Head Pastry Chef

We are looking for an experienced pastry chef to lead the bakeries pastry team in developing, making and supplying a range of cakes, tarts, biscuits and savoury bakes. Working alongside our Head Baker and Head of Bakery you will oversee and supervise the team. Engaging in NPD, production and overseeing packaging. This is a key position within our team and we are looking for an experienced production Head Pastry Chef to take our offering and team to the next level. You will be responsible for the day to day operation of the bakery and supervising more junior members of staff. Your eye for detail will be exceptional and you will have great people management skills.

This is a very exciting opportunity to join a growing business and a department moving into a brand new facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • New product development for pastry products
  • Day to day operation of pastry team, team management
  • Prepare and bake a variety of high-quality cakes, tarts, cookies and other products inline with specs
  • Ensure the freshness and presentation of all baked goods meet the The Newt standard and guests expectations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bakery area, including equipment, tools and workstations.
  • Production planning
  • Control quality and consistency, checking of all outgoing orders
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • To maintain the company's vision and ethos.
  • To ensure all products are delivered and packaged on time.
  • To ensure Health and Safety and Food Safety legislation are adhered to; this will involve appropriate training.

The newt bakery is a 7 day a week operation supplying our hospitality and retail businesses with World Class artisan breads and baked good. As a working estate, seasonality plays a large part in the operation meaning you'll get the opportunity to work with some of the freshest produce Somerset has to offer. Creating unique exciting products for various outlets. We work with only the highest quality ingredients sourced from the estate, local suppliers or the best in the country, all our products are produced with wild farmed flour. Our bakery is growing and in 6 months time will move into a state of the art facility, allowing us to develop our range of pastries and cakes even further.
