Are you an Assistant Director of HR, looking for an exciting new Interim opportunity in the public sector?

My client who is one of the oldest and world leading medical centres, specialising in the care of eye disorders and diseases. They are an organisation where medical students from top London universities come to learn, and nurses receive exceptional training.

They are located in the heart of London, close to numerous transport links where you will be expected to attend the office on a hybrid basis (2 days per week).

The Interim Assistant Director of HR Operations will manage a team of 7, initially over the next 3 months with the potential for extension.

The purpose of this job is to support the delivery of the workforce strategy as part of the senior team of the Workforce and OD function. You will also effectively lead the delivery of all transactional people services, non-medical recruitment and temporary staffing.

This Interim Assistant Director of HR Operations role paying up to £410 per day through an umbrella company will lead on the below responsibilities:

  • Providing effective leadership, vision and direction for the operations team to provide excellent high quality operational services.
  • Ensuring continual improvement of manager capability, accountability and knowledge through guidelines, workshops and coaching that enables managers to make effective workforce decisions in line with the legal and policy framework.
  • Leading on initiatives on behalf of the trust to enable improved effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensuring strong relationships are built and maintained with divisional leads and professional leads to ensure delivery of key workforce strategy work streams and addressing areas of concern.
  • Working with trade union colleagues, deliver changes to how services are delivered, resourced and supported.
  • Supporting the Deputy Chief People Officer of Workforce to deliver sustainability and transformation wide schemes

    This exciting and varied Assistant Director of HR Operations role will suit an experienced senior HR professional with a track record of managing a busy but driven HR team. You will need to be able to influence others and meet important deadlines. It would be beneficial if you have experience of working in a large medical organisation, like the NHS and have been involved in change projects.

    The interview process will involve a 1-stage interview process with the chosen candidate ideally in post by the start of September 2024. All applicants must be able to start a new role at short notice.
