IAG Internal Controls Analyst

The IAG Internal Controls team drives the continuous improvement of the groupwide control environment by promoting good governance and internal controls, guiding the implementation of best practice, and reporting compliance to senior leadership.
As an analyst in the IAG Internal Controls team, you will take part in the maintenance of financial, IT, non-financial and compliance control frameworks across the Group, including the airlines (British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling) and other operating companies (IAG Loyalty, IAG Cargo and IAG GBS).
.
Purpose of the role- Maintenance of the Group internal control environment including its documentation within the Group GRC Tool.
- Assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of the Group internal control environment, identifying areas for improvement, such as gaps in the framework or control weakness.
- Continual improvement of Group-wide Financial & IT, Non-Financial and Compliance internal control frameworks through reviews of controls alongside process owners and supporting them in the design and implementation of new/updated controls.
- Driving best practice across the Group and helping to streamline and automate the Financial & IT, Non-Financial and Compliance control frameworks across different areas of the business.
- Monitoring Group-wide compliance levels for internal controls within the Group GRC Tool.
- Reporting to Senior Management on the state of their internal control environment, including compliance levels, status of open/overdue weaknesses, and internal control projects / initiatives.
- Liaise with Internal / External Audit to support audit activities and provide guidance on existing control environment.
- Support management and process owners to remediate weaknesses identified in Group-wide internal control frameworks, as well as local control frameworks through yearly internal/external audits.
- Qualified accountant, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) or similar financial or auditing qualification or IT qualifications.
- Relevant experience in external/internal audit or internal controls/risk management functions.
- Strong analytical, influencing, and written communication skills.
- Experience / expertise in Non-Financial Information reporting (ESG, CSRD), desirable.
- Experience in data analytics (e.g. IDEA, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) will be an advantage.
- Experience with ICFR or SOX requirements is preferred.
- Ability to identify and assess financial, financial reporting and IT risks and design mitigating controls.
- Experience designing, developing, and documenting control frameworks.
- Process understanding and documentation.
- Experience in automation of manual processes/workflows will be an advantage.
- Be an excellent team player able to adapt to various working styles and environments.
- Creative thinking and ability to analyse and suggest solutions of the business issues, including use of technology.
- Ability to operate in a multi-national and multi-cultural environment.
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Spanish speaking skills beneficial.
- Ability and willingness for occasional travel.
- Experience working in a finance, finance reporting function would be an advantage.
- Experience of working within financial, financial reporting processes and designing controls and processes.
- Good understanding of IT General controls and risk management principles, cybersecurity, cloud computing concepts, operating systems, databases, web, network infrastructure, and SDLC methodologies (desirable).
- Proven experience in IT General controls environments, which should be recently gained.
- A sound understanding of operating systems, databases, web and network infrastructures (desirable).
- Knowledge of SAP and/or Governance Risk Control (GRC) Tools (desirable).
