The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Strategy and Relationships Manager to join their Skills and Employment Unit on an interim basis. This role is pivotal in contributing to policy development and ensuring the delivery of the Mayor’s manifesto commitments relating to skills and employment priorities in London. The successful candidate will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the devolution of the 19+ Adult Education Budget (AEB) to the Mayor of London and contribute to the development of skills and adult education policy.
Lead strategy and policy development relating to the AEB and wider post-16 skills.
Promote and deliver skills and employment policy in line with the Mayor’s manifesto commitments.
Manage a team of officers to develop policy priorities that support London’s adult education system, helping Londoners to succeed in work and society.
Produce evidence and research to inform the development of AEB policy priorities, contributing to London’s recovery from the pandemic.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders at a senior level, including national government, education providers, London’s boroughs, employers, businesses, and communities.
Liaise closely with other teams within the Skills and Employment Unit and across the GLA, including the Mayor’s Office, Communities and Social Policy, Economic Development, and Education and Youth.
A successful track record in managing teams and policy development and implementation.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and programmes, including planning, monitoring delivery, and managing risk.
Substantial knowledge of economic development policy.
Experience of operating at a senior level in a complex organisational or political environment.
Knowledge of skills and employment policy in London is desirable.
