Overview:


Our customer base is varied, and includes coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets, leisure, hotels, and education. 

Due to increase trading over recent years, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Business Development to join our team, focusing on Wholesales, and supporting our Corporate and Events delivery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food and beverage industry, coupled with a proactive attitude and excellent communication skills. As part of a small but dedicated team of four, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and expanding our business reach.


Responsibilities:


This position involves managing an account base within a designated territory.


·       Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify potential opportunities for business expansion within the food and beverage industry. Stay updated on industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities.

·       Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company objectives. Identify key target markets, clients, and partnerships to pursue.

·       Client Acquisition: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while actively seeking out new business opportunities. Collaborate with the Commercial team to generate leads, pitch products/services, and close deals. The position is a targeted role, with success being able to demonstrate financial growth of your area whilst still maintaining strong profit margins.

·       Wholesale Experience: Utilize previous experience in wholesale to identify potential wholesale partners, negotiate contracts, and establish mutually beneficial relationships. Develop pricing strategies and promotional programs to drive wholesale revenue. Service is key to our success – so you will also be expected to develop strong relationships and communication levels with your account base.

·       Product Development: Work closely with the product development team to identify market needs and opportunities for product innovation or enhancement whilst maintain strong margins. Provide valuable insights and feedback to improve existing offerings.

·       Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including commercial, orders, ecommerce, marketing, and operations to ensure seamless execution of business development strategies. Communicate regularly with team members to share updates, progress, and challenges.

·       Reporting and Analysis: Track key performance metrics and provide regular reports on business development activities, including sales pipeline, revenue forecasts, and market trends. Analyse data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

·       Networking: Represent the company at potential events, trade shows, and conferences to network with potential clients, partners, and industry professionals. Leverage these opportunities to promote our brand and explore new business avenues.


What we are looking for:


·       Proven track record in business development, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the food and beverage industry.

·       Experience in wholesales, including negotiating contracts and managing wholesale relationships.

·       Experience managing a team and developing future talent.

·       Strong understanding of sales principles and techniques.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively.

·       Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities and drive initiatives forward.

·       Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.

·       Proactive attitude with a passion for driving results and exceeding targets.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.

·       Flexibility to travel as needed.
