We are looking for an experienced, adaptable, dynamic and highly motivated person to work with our Wood technical team at the Royal College of Art. This team supports a wide variety of programmes with woodworking activities across all campuses. We have a brand new Wood workshop in our Battersea South building that includes a wide variety of technical facilities and processes.

**The day job as a Technical Instructor in Wood**:

- Provide technical support, advice and demonstrations in the specialist Wood workshops
- Support the growth of bench based making areas that allow students to explore and develop work within the experimental stages of their research.
- Continual learning as part of a dynamic team.
- Assist students and staff in problem solving and finding technical solutions.
- Maintain specialist equipment and applicable health and safety accurate records.
- Support College Teaching, Learning, Research activity as appropriate for the role.

**What you will need to have**:

- Significant, highly skilled, specialist knowledge of a variety of processes for working with wood.
- Experience of delivering in person technical workshops.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- The ability to use initiative and work as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational, time management, planning and problem solving skills.
- Excellent user focus and a flexible approach.
- Experience of creating online learning materials is essential.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and Risk Assessment procedures
- Some experience of working with the digital wood manufacturing would be desirable but not essential.
