Battersea, United Kingdom Leith School of Art Full time

Job description

**Leith School of Art**

**Head of Finance & Operations**

£40,000 (FTE)

Leith (Flexible)

Full-time or 4-days per week (Permanent)

Leith School of Art is a unique and special place, set up over 30 years ago as an alternative to large institutions. Their ethos is to focus on teaching individuals while fostering a sense of community. They are a small school which allows them to concentrate on the needs of each student and to generate a good working relationship between the students and staff.

Leith School of Art believe in creating an artistic community which will enrich the lives of all who encounter it. Their charitable work breaks down barriers to art education and is testament to their belief in inclusivity. Leith School of Art welcome all those who come to the school and believe that everyone has something to give and something to gain from being a part of the school.

They recognise that creativity and learning thrive in an atmosphere where diversity and difference are celebrated. It is important to the school that everyone feels welcomed, seen, and respected for who they are.

As the Head of Finance and Operations you will play a central role within the Senior Management team at the school, reporting into the principal and working closely with the Board of Directors to help achieve all of Leith School of Art’s strategic objectives.

The Head of Finance and Operations will have a sound knowledge of corporate functions including finance, and the ability to deal with complex and sometimes challenging HR issues. You will lead a small team of five which includes the Short Courses Manager, Fundraising and Development Lead, Head Technician, Student Registrar & Welfare Officer, and the Short Courses Administrator. You will provide the team with a strong and supportive management style.

You will lead on and be responsible for all of the school’s financial systems and procedures including budgets and projections, accurate monthly management accounts and balance sheets, quarterly management accounts and provide updates for Leith School of Art’s Board of Directors and the preparation and submission of payroll. You will be solely responsible for monitoring income and expenditure against budget and analyse any variances.

You should have strong financial management and HR experience, not necessarily gained at a charitable organisation, however you should have a clear understanding of charity finance regulations. If this sounds like you and you have a particular interest in the arts, then this could be your ideal next career move.
