Reporting To: Head of Operations


Work Environment: This position works in a warehouse setting, stock room setting & retail store setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones as well as standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters, step ladders and tape dispensers.


Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing during parts of the day. The employee may frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Role Overview:

  • This role is a critical link in the operations, chain building a best-in-class function and driving excellence throughout key processes.
  • This role is responsible for the maintenance of our warehouse ensuring we are compliant, and everything is in good working order and our team have everything they need to perform warehouse tasks.
  • You will oversee all inventory within the building from packaging through to racking and railing.
  • You will help to optimize our logistics department at Drake’s alongside the Head of Operations, and the operations management team, streamlining the logistics end to end, from inbound through to outbound as well as implement and establish future improvements in logistics and warehousing for Drake’s.
  • You will look to understand the current logistics operation within all departments – production, wholesale, retail & e-commerce, and how to make immediate improvements as well as look to the future and how Drake’s logistics operations can function even better.
  • You will gain knowledge on all Drake’s products, understanding tariff codes extensively to ensure our product is licensed correctly and can reach all destinations with ease.
  • You will work with current and new carriers to ensure we are operating at best service and lowest cost, ensuring also that our wholesale and e-commerce customers receive the standard they expect from Drake’s.


Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Ownership of our warehouse maintenance
  • Ownership of our inventory – packaging, supplies etc
  • Managing logistics operations while controlling warehouse operations and advancing the efficiency of the supply chain
  • Managing, testing transportation providers, reviewing costs and transportation rates and researching shipping options
  • Recruiting and coordinating carriers according to requirements and availabilities
  • This role will also be responsible for shipping within the business
  • Ownership of inbound/outbound stock 
  • Ownership of the communication with Production department with regards to inbound and outbound of raw materials, finished goods shipments, booking relevant freight forwarders, and collating necessary paperwork and quotations
  • Streamline and direct the smooth and timely delivery of all wholesale orders within the specified seasonal delivery window to the respective clients
  • Owning the relationship with logistic partners to guarantee the efficient delivery of goods, offering the highest standard of customer service throughout
  • Support all departments within the company with international shipping requirements and related paperwork. 
  • Be a main point of contact for any queries or updates in regards to logistics operations, be they current or future
  • Create SOP for import and export of goods globally, this will include all forms of shipping – sea, road and air freight.
  • Work closely with logistics associate to ensure certificates and any relevant documentations needed for shipping/customs in advance are up to date 
  • Proactively review existing operations and logistics procedures to streamline processes and save costs continually throughout the year
  • Oversee returns from wholesale/private clients, raising related credit notes for the client on a timely basis.
  • In season stock allocation of inventory to global wholesale accounts, working with Wholesale and Merchandising depts to create seasonal delivery plans
  • Support the Wholesale team in terms of shipping of merchandise/fixtures for events, sales campaigns organised around the world
  • Generate weekly delivery performance for the respective seasons in line with trade
  • Monitoring quality control and keeping warehouse capacity at optimal levels in regards to deliveries and shipments out
  • Developing and analysing budget and providing reports to senior management and directors
  • Ensuring that Drake’s shipping methods complying with rules, regulations and laws
  • Verifying and meeting established deadlines through management, product fulfilment, shipping and transportation cycle


Requirements:

  • Degree level or similar (at least 3+ years’ experience in a commercial business, preferably in apparel)
  • You must have people management experience
  • Strong knowledge of logistics supply chains and global distribution
  • Strong knowledge of inventory, WMS, production, merchandising and shipping software
  • Knowledge of HS code classification, International customs regulations and compliances
  • Understanding and ability to negotiate, benchmark the freight rates and services
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and use of Microsoft office
  • Professional demeanour handling outside contacts as well as motivated to make smart judgment calls for the company
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, who builds positive relationships both with internal and external contacts.
  • Successful candidates must be pro-active, a go-getter, have the passion for Logistics, ability to multitask, work well under pressure and go an extra mile when required in order to achieve company objectives.
  • Performing all duties with tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Ability to combine challenges of working in a creative and spontaneous environment where each day is different
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise, manage multiple deadlines and cope with heavy workloads
