Role Description

The role of Children’s Writing Workshop Facilitator (Freelance) is for an enthusiastic individual who has a passion for creative writing. The position involves facilitating a creative writing programme for children aged 13-15 from underprivileged backgrounds. The facilitator will not have to design the materials and will follow a set structure provided. However, there is an opportunity to inform and guide the content of the workshop alongside other facilitators.


It would be an ideal role for an English literature / creative writing student looking for a meaningful freelance opportunity.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in facilitating writing workshops or working with children
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Passion for working with children and fostering their love for writing
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of different age groups and skill levels
  • Organisational skills to plan and structure workshop sessions
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to young writers
  • Knowledge of children's literature and writing techniques
  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm


Required

  • Enhanced DBS Check
  • Current university student or graduate holding a BA degree


Details

This is a paid opportunity above London Living Wage, rate is depending on experience.

4 x 5 hour days + a number of preparation calls (paid) in the weeks up to the event.


Workshop takes place 29th July - 1st August in person in the London borough of Kensington & Chelsea
