Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities of Role;

Ensure aneffective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any othervisitor. Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriateservice or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Usingyour own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no priorappointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical andnon-disruptive manner. Undertakea variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of thepractice. Telephoneduties; making appointments, taking requests for prescriptions, taking homevisit requests, contacting other providers, take concise and accurate messages. Receptionduties; register new patients, handling prescriptions, deal with incomingpatient samples, collect payments for non-NHS services. Administrativeduties; open and process incoming mail, photocopying, deal with general queriesand complaints (where appropriate), retrieve patient records, update patientrecords as required, assist outgoing mail from the practice. To have athorough knowledge of all procedures and to work in accordance with writtenprotocols. Reportrisks, significant problems and issues to the relevant person ensuringappropriate reporting procedures are followed. Any otherduties which may be required from time to time.

Adapt toand support any changes that are implemented to improve the service. Providecover for staff absence, whether this be sickness or annual leave. Demonstratetheir commitment by the efficient completion of all tasks allocated to them. Ensurebuilding security; have a thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm processes. Effectivelymanage own time, workload and resources.
