The Opportunity:
 

Adobe established a Global Payments business function in 2020, and over the past several years, this included hiring in leads and teams across four different areas, 1. Partnership Management, 2. Payments Strategy, 3. Risk Decisioning and 4. Payment Operations. Each team is centralized in the United States and carries a global remit. To maximize the strategic potential of the Payments business, Adobe is searching for an an experienced, regional leader to complement our central teams. The right person for this leadership role will bring deep knowledge of EMEA payment processing and experience in the card not present, subscription payment processing area and the strategies used to maximize payment approval rates. 

Internally, you will partner directly with the heads of the central payment functions, and the EMEA regional sales team. You will also partner indirectly with support functions including Legal, Finance, Accounting and Product. Externally, you will partner with processors, acquirers, issuers and alternative payment providers to support our vision for a “best in class” payments function. With many opportunities in front you, this role requires “big picture” thinking to prioritize high value opportunities, and an innovative approach to solving problems in the payment space. All opportunities will drive level one KPIs focused on increasing Annual Recurring Revenue.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Director of EMEA Payments to join our business based in London or Munich.

What you’ll do:

Drive Adobe business objectives though local relationships with Adobe’s EMEA payment processors and the major card Networks (Visa / MasterCard / Amex / Carte Bancaires).

Forge new strategic relationships with alternative payment providers that Adobe should consider for integration into our checkout process to maximize regional and/or country specific customer experience.

Establish relationships with the top issuing banks in key Adobe EMEA markets. Educate them on our products and shared customers, collaborate with them on payment optimization strategies, and execute Adobe’s co-marketing playbook to unlock top of funnel demand at

Serve as the primary interface between the entire Adobe Payments business and the European sales team. Keep the local sales team informed about regional and central payments strategies that affect EMEA KPIs from payment approvals and declines.

Influence the prioritization of payment initiatives on our internal roadmap and the external roadmap of the partners you manage. Adobe Payments business has dedicated engineering capacity, so you will also own feature/functionality trade-offs that balance (1) builds time/cost, (2) feature trade-offs and (3) revenue ROI. Post launch, you will drive A/B testing, KPI measurements and learnings that will drive additional product feature/functionality enhancements.

Establish new reporting with insights that provide greater visibility to EMEA payment success rate trends and strategies you are driving to improve them and Adobe’s EMEA revenue growth.

Stay current on evolving EMEA payments industry trends to identify new opportunities you can being to Adobe with the business case that will help drive prioritization based on ROI.

Starting as an individual contributor, with opportunity to build a team and a model for regionally relevant differences in the payments space that will be used to grow other geographies as well.

Champion a team culture focused on cross functional collaboration and the power of analytics to assess all business opportunities.

What you’ll need to succeed:

Significant senior level payments experience, ideally in merchant processing wither with a payment processor or acquiring bank, or from the merchant side managing global ecommerce payments. Experience with an issuing bank, or one of the global networks is also desirable.

Ability to lead through influence and drive opportunities through collaborative consensus across EMEA Sales/Business, Product, Treasury, Marketing, Finance/Accounting, and Operations.

A deep understanding of the EMEA digital payment ecosystem, trends and regulatory changes, along with first-hand knowledge on the unique attributes that present challenges to merchants in the CNP recurring payment space.

Self-motivated with ability drive internal and external results with high level of independence.

Clearly and simply communicate complex payment concepts in a way that is easy for others to understand. And, have the presence to sit across the table and drive conversations with senior leaders and decision makers at Banks, Networks and Processors.

Ability to build financial models that support business cases that bias toward action based on facts. You will be able to move quickly while also maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and quality.

Multiple languages a plus - English, plus one or more other fluent European languages.

BA/BS required, MBA a plus.
