Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a one year maternity cover secondment as Assistant Service Manager in Breast, ENT & OMFS at ASPH. The main base will be at Ashford Hospital with one day every two weeks spent at St Peters Hospital.

The successful candidate will oversee the smooth running of the patient pathway, including effective management of performance targets for the 18 weeks RTT, cancer targets and 28 day rebooking.

Also the line management of the Band 5 Clinical Office Team Leaders and Central Booking Officers.

Main duties of the job

To work alongside the Service Manager with daily management of PTLs to ensure delivery of RTT and cancer and theatre re-booking targets. To arrange additional capacity for services as required ensuring performance targets are met. To support the daily operational and business management of the department. To support the Service Manager to ensure that the medical rotas are completed six weeks in advance and distributed accordingly. To deputise for the Service Manager as appropriate, including contribution to surgical bed management.

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:

Operational Management Assisting with the co-ordination of Patient Tracking List (PTL) meetings, which involves:

Understanding performance at a patient level Identifying the necessary action points and delegating to the appropriate staff members accordingly Following up on all actions from previous meetings Escalating to the Service Manager as appropriate Manage clinic capacity whilst proactively preventing two-week rule and 18 week breaches. Request additional clinics as necessary, liaising directly with the Consultants, Doctors, Matron and Sisters, to arrange availability of staff Attend cancer PTL meetings, taking responsibility for completing actions to ensure patients are fast tracked through their pathway to prevent non-compliance with cancer targets Undertake weekly breach analysis, escalating trends to the Service Manager To ensure that the Trusts Patient Access Policy is adhered to in everyday working practice Support the infrastructure which measures performance within the service / division (including RTT reports, e-referrals, and outpatient new to follow up ratios) To work closely with the CBO Coordinators and Appointment Centre to ensure any activity changes are managed smoothly and effectively Person Specification
