The expansion of the Sustainability team means we are now looking to recruit new Sustainability Products Specialist in Visé ( Belgium), or St-Helen (United Kingdom), or Skofja Loka (Slovenia) and reporting to Marc Bosmans.

As Sustainable Products Specialist, you'd be contributing to maintain and optimize Knauf Insulation LCA models, and will look for simplification and rationalization of the LCA related processes. you'd be developing a good understanding of the environmental impact of the manufacturing stage in order to be able to challenge back the manufacturing team, as well as the purchasing or logistic teams, to help the reduction of Knauf Insulation products and processes environmental impact.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Manage Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) demands and expectation with the relevant markets
  • The Sustainable Products Support will be responsible for the Life Cycle Assessment program for KI products. This includes:
    • Data collection in manufacturing plants
    • Modelling in GaBi software (generic or industry specific)
    • Verification process
    • Publication – with marketing teams, communication and training
    • Market support (competition analysis …)
  • Adapt LCA modelling based on KI manufacturing process evolution and/or methodology changes.
  • Looks for optimizing the models in order to get best results.
  • Based on results, gives feedback to all KI involved teams as a suggestion for improvements
  • Keep himself / herself on top of LCA software revision
  • Have an active role in the process of data collection in manufacturing plants and products data information with PPD teams.
  • Contribute to:
    • Creating the next generation EPD - LCA as a service to the customer
    • The digitalization of the EPDs i.e. inclusion into BIM
    • Keeping KI LCA program in line with the developments in the construction sector: regulations and green buildings rating schemes
    • Supporting the Management in the development of LCA methods, standards & applications (PEF, TC 350, ECO Platform, new indicators, circular Economy …)
  • Support marketing communication, advocacy work of the public affairs team, and training of internal teams and external stakeholders / customers
  • He / she establishes contacts with most departments of the company (purchasing, operation planning, manufacturing, health and safety, product and process development and marketing) as well as the scientific community such universities, consultancy, research institutes, outside KI

We're looking for someone who is comfortable with abstract concept, someone with a higher technical education degree ( environmental, chemical, bio-chemical or similar) with the ability to deal with large amounts of information and with a good attention to details.   

If you have experience in the following areas – this is an added advantage:

  • Languages: Fluent in English. Other language, in particular French, are nice to have
  • Experience with project management is preferred
  • Presentation at all levels of management is to be expected
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the Building & Construction sector, or in the environmental or material science sector is a plus
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously would be ideal
