Portsmouth (Various) – Special Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants – Fulltime or Part time

We require more staff with special needs experience for live vacancies and upcoming roles in various locations across the Greater Portsmouth area. These roles are focussed to support individual or small groups of pupils that need support to manage their emotions and behaviour in school. For many children, this is an essential lifeline for their education as it becomes increasingly more common for Special needs children to be placed in mainstream environments.

Where does special needs experience come from?

Teaching Personnel look beyond roles to identify transferable skills from your experience and background and accept a wide range of abilities, qualifications & skills to work in schools. Successful candidates have been found from Care work, social work, NHS roles, Community groups and personal experiences as well as many more.  

What would I be doing?

Your job is to essentially help the pupil, help themselves This requires building trust and understanding with the pupil as an individual, so that they can thrive academically, personally & emotionally. You will need to work in tandem with the Teacher to tailor class tasks to the child’s needs, to spot frustrations, find calm solutions & on the spot problem solving. You will more than likely also work with the other pupils, provide you a wealth of experience and the class a safe, engaging and suitable learning environment.

From Scout groups & Coaching sports to Ballet instructors & local church groups we are sure to have a role for you, where you continue to make a difference to young lives.

What do I need to sign up?

We require then following in order to have you work in schools:

-          Two forms of I.D

-          Two proof of address documents

-          An updated CV

-          Two references

-          A valid DBS or for you to apply for a new one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
