JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges? Teaching Personnel have an incredible opportunity for you to join our team of educators in the Greater Manchester area as a SEMH Teaching Assistant in a mainstream school located in Gorton.

Location: Gorton, Manchester

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary

Salary: Competitive, up to £1,700 per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, assisting them in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Implement tailored strategies and interventions to support the social and emotional development of pupils.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to create personalised learning plans for students.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting their self-esteem, confidence, and resilience.
  • Support the management of challenging behaviour through de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of engaging and inclusive learning activities that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of vulnerable pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with both students and colleagues.
  • Resilience, patience, and a calm demeanour when faced with challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or related fields is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
