SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant Opportunity with Teaching Personnel – Oldham Area

About the Role:

As a SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Your role will involve working on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN/SEMH needs, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop essential life skills.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure students receive the best possible educational experience.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting support strategies as needed.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs in an educational or care setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature with a genuine desire to support students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and experience in de-escalation strategies.
  • A valid DBS check registered with the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
