Role Overview:

In the capacity of a SEN/SEMH Support Assistant, you will collaborate closely with students requiring additional assistance to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include providing individualized support, either on a one-on-one basis or in small groups, to foster a positive and inclusive educational atmosphere tailored to the unique needs of each student.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver customized support to students with SEN/SEMH requirements, facilitating their engagement with the curriculum and the development of vital life skills.
  • Assist in executing individual education plans (IEPs) and strategies for behavior management.
  • Establish strong, supportive connections with students, promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with educators, SEN Coordinators, and other support personnel to ensure students receive optimal educational experiences.
  • Track and report on student progress, adjusting support strategies as necessary.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience working with children or young individuals with SEN/SEMH needs in educational or care environments.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient disposition with a sincere commitment to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of effective teamwork.
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and experience in de-escalation methods.
  • A valid DBS check registered with the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
