Job Summary

The Primary role of this position is to assist the Port in achieving its ambitious Sustainability targets by offering timely advice and solutions related to environment and sustainability issues in port operations and development. You will provide support to ensure that the Port of Dover upholds and works towards finding innovative, efficient and cost-effective ways to improve performance and ensure compliance to current and emerging environmental legislation. You will support and maintain the environmental elements of the Ports integrated management system and support the Environment and Sustainability Manager to drive the business forward to maintain a high standard of environmental performance, enabling the port to promote their environmental achievements.

Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in Marine or Environmental Science, or similar

• A working knowledge of ISO14001

• Knowledge of environment legislation and application

• Experience of monitoring and auditing environmental and sustainability performance

• Good analytical and research skills

• Good report writing skills

• Excellent IT skills to include Microsoft 365

• Must be able to access heights and work on vessels in the harbour environment

• Ability to take part in an out of hours on-call rota

• Full UK driving licence

Desirable skills and qualifications

• Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or equivalent

• Vocational Environment Management certification

• Experience in applying for and monitoring compliance with environmental licencing and consents

• Experience of using BREEAM or alternative sustainability standard

• Experience with energy management and carbon foot printing

• GIS experience
