The successful post holder will be supported with regular supervision, a yearly appraisal and many CPD opportunities including a robust in-house training programme, peer support sessions, and ongoing learning opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The FCMHT outreach service aims to bridge the gap between inpatient and community services, providing a smooth transition across the care pathway.

You will be working alongside a team which includesregistered Occupational Therapists (Band 7 and Band 6), an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner and Peer Support Worker. The outreach team are embedded in the Norfolk and Suffolk FCMHT along with Psychiatrists, Mental Health Practitioners / Care Coordinators, Psychologists and Psychology Assistants, Social Workers, Assistant Practitioners and Senior Community Workers, and Physical Health Practitioners.

Occupational Therapy staff from the FCMHT outreach team lead on the development and provision of occupation focused aspects of team delivery, specialist occupational assessments, as well as support for, and supervision of, other members of the team.

The post holder be required to engage with the wider multi-disciplinary team and to work across agencies to deliver packages of care in the role of occupational therapist. They will require a good knowledge of Occupational Therapy input into risk assessment & risk management and be able to work well with service users with complex mental health needs and a forensic / offending history.Standardised clinical tools based on the Model of Human Occupation will be utilised where the post holder has identified their appropriateness using specialist knowledge, including occupational formulation.
