Position: Mental Health Support Worker.
Location: Skelmersdale Primary School.
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week (term-time only).
Our school in Skelmersdale is committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child can flourish. We recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing in children’s development and are dedicated to providing the support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one-to-one and group support to children with mental health needs.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop and implement individual support plans.
- Deliver workshops and activities that promote mental health awareness and resilience.
- Support the school’s pastoral team in managing incidents related to mental health and wellbeing.
- Monitor and document children’s progress and provide feedback to the pastoral team and parents.
- Contribute to the development of a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
- A passion for supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in mental health support, counselling, or a related field.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
- A supportive and friendly working environment.
