Job summary

Cervical Screening Wales is responsible for the NHS cervical screening programme in Wales, and aims to reduce the incidence of, and morbidity and mortality from, invasive cervical cancer.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team as a Regional Secretary based at 18 Cathedral Road, Cardiff.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver a secretarial/administration service for the South East Regional screening department this will include supporting the Programme Manager, Lead Nurse Specialist and Deputy Lead Nurse Specialist, the wider Regional team within screening, and other staff groups as necessary. You will provide support in all areas of secretarial, administrative and organisational processes. Additionally, the post holder will provide a remote cross cover agreement with secretaries in other Regions throughout Wales providing cover when required.

The candidate must be able to follow policies and procedures, and understand the importance of data protection act and confidentiality.

This is a permanent full time position ( hours/week), flexi time policy is operated within the team though service delivery must be priority with office cover required Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00.

Qualifications

Essential

Good general standard of education including 5 GCSEs must include English and Maths) NVQ Level 3 Business Administration / or or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience of working at that level experience.

Desirable

ECDL or equivalent IT qualification RSA Stage III typing or word processing (or equivalent)

Demonstrable experience of arranging and taking minutes as required at meetings, note taking/audio typing and full range of secretarial duties. Ability to communicate well at all levels with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organisational skills with demonstrable ability to prioritise work of own and others to deliver deadlines Observe discretion and confidentiality and deal with people and information using appropriate levels of confidentiality. Experience of working within guidelines and local policies.
