About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Regional Casework Manager to join the South West of England Region at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

You will be part of the regional office team, co-managing a group of Regional Casework Coordinators which will provide specialist administrative and single point of contact support to SSAFA branch based volunteers, to ensure a consistent, timely and quality service is provided to SSAFA beneficiaries. The role will require you to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with volunteer branch based casework managers. At times, the role will require support to the casework administrators with call handling, signposting and the triage of initial enquiries from clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. You will influence the processes and procedures within the new regional office, working in a close team and line managed by the Regional Operations Manager.

The post is home-based, but you may have to travel occasionally around the South West of England Region which includes the counties of Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Cornwall and Somerset.

About the team

The regional office is a “virtual” office and supports the eight SSAFA branches in the South West of England region, as the branch-based volunteers deliver casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger support team which will include 7 Regional Casework Coordinators and a Regional Operations Manager. All team members are home based, residing in the region.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a good standard of education, experience of managing employees, together with managing and reporting on service delivery. You will have a track record of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, together with achieving results through negotiation and influence. Previous experience of working with volunteers would be an asset. You will have used Microsoft Office to a high standard and be capable of quickly learning a computerised case management system. The successful candidate will have experience of planning and managing their own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous to have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families. An understanding of the voluntary sector, and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the South West of England would be valuable.
