In this role you'll be responsible for leading, maintaining and supporting the development of Supplier Controls Assurance (SCA) plans, working with key stakeholders and Supplier Relationship Managers to ensure supplier risks are identified and managed effectively. 

By maintaining effective assurance plans for key suppliers, the team of SCA Managers work as part of the risk function to drive best practice across Sainsbury’s Bank and Argos Financial Services (‘the Bank’) through strong supplier risk management in line with the Bank’s risk appetite. 

Through awareness of the rregulatory and external environment, the SCA Manager will deliver effective assurance over the Bank’s risks with suppliers.

What you need to do

Responsible for the identification and assessment of risks and key controls within suppliers in order to minimise the Bank’s potential exposure. Manage the development and maintenance of SCA test plans, working with the Bank’s Policy Standard stakeholders, internal risk community across 3 lines of defence and the Group Third Party Assurance team. Deliver improvements to the Bank's overall understanding of supplier risks and assurance activities through the facilitation of coaching and education for all contact points throughout the organisation. Undertake robust planning to identify key supplier processes, risks and controls in order to define and agree proportionate and targeted testing plans in line with the SCA methodology. Lead delivery of SCA reviews, which may involve on-site reviews at supplier locations, within defined risk categories (Information Security, Business Continuity & Incident Management, Information Technology, Records Management, Data Protection and Data Governance) to assess potential impact to the Bank and develop and approve plans in collaboration with the supplier and relevant internal stakeholders to mitigate any identified risk exposures. Timely, concise, accurate and quality report writing to convey outcomes of assurance activities to key supplier, policy and risk stakeholders and SMEs across the Bank. Maintain adequate audit trails and records of SCA reviews to accurately reflect the work undertaken and provide effective assurance outcomes to key internal stakeholders.  Direct the analysis of trends within supply chain assurance reviews to identify any thematic weaknesses across the supply chain and provide recommendations to improve the control environment. Ensure that where assurance activities are not completed effectively, a path to remedy this is in place and tracked. Use industry networks to maintain and enhance awareness of market trends and external factors to ensure the Bank has a robust and market-leading approach to assurance of suppliers.

What you need to know and show

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, or it is preferred to have; professional qualification/experience (. CISA / CISM, CISSP, CISMP, SSCP, ISO27001 or 20000 Practitioner qualifications, CompTIA Security+). Knowledge / experience in managing under at least one of the following frameworks: COBIT, ITIL, ISO27001, ISO22301, ISO20000). Risk management, assurance or control testing experience within Financial Services. Strong knowledge of risk management practices with the ability to identify, quantify and effectively manage risks. Working knowledge of at least two of Information Security, Business Continuity & Incident Management, Information Technology, Records Management, Data Protection and Data Governance areas of risk with experience delivering risk mitigation. Ability to review and analyse key external trends and influences to ensure that a wide range of information is used to effectively manage suppliers and associated risks. Good understanding of supply chains and the associated risks. Strong written communication – business and project reports with experience of audit/ assurance reporting. Strong communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, . able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level. Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team. Proven ability to introduce best practice solutions. Build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, policy SMEs, supplier relationship managers and suppliers themselves. Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure. Experience in providing a specialist service to a devolved internal customer set. Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.  Able to deliver success in an environment where influencing challenging stakeholders is paramount. Excellent team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results. Customer focused.
