Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Nursing Associate to join the existing Pleural Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) team.

We are looking for a practitioner who is dynamic and self-motivated who can work under direction and supervision but who also shows initiative. This new role is to support the delivery of the pleural service to improve patient care. You will be working alongside the existing Pleural ACPs, trainee Pleural ACPs, nursing and Respiratory Medicine doctors, predominantly at Lincoln County Hospital with some future developments to cover intermittently at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.

Main duties of the job

The role will include duties such as:

Assisting with procedures Performing pre- and post-procedure patient care Pre- and post-procedure equipment preparation Management of pleural samples including labelling and transporting samples Equipment management including restocking, stock management, equipment ordering, paperwork Preparing patients for thoracoscopy Assisting with referrals Assisting with patient movement pre- / post-procedure Making phone calls to patients for procedure preparation

oRegistered Nursing Associate on the NMC register oNursing Associate Foundation Degree or equivalent oGCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 or equivalent

Previous Experience

Essential

oExperience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of the multi-disciplinary team oInsight on how to evaluate own strengths and development needs seeking advice where appropriate oExperience of providing and receiving complex sensitive information

Desirable

Experience of working with respiratory patients or patient with cancer
